Elon Musk opposes Apple-OpenAI deal

At the recent Apple WWDC 2024; Apple CEO Tim Cook had announced the partnership between Apple and OpenAI.

Reacting to this deal; Tesla and SpaceX’s CEO Elon Musk has threatened to ban iPhone at his companies if Apple integrates OpenAI at its operating system-level.

He has termed it as “…an unacceptable security violation”.

In one of his posts, regarding this issue, Elon Musk had written “It’s patently absurd that Apple isn’t smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy!” and “Apple has no clue what’s actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI. They’re selling you down the river.”

Mira Mutani, CTO, OpenAI dismissed Elon Musk’s opinion and reiterated her company’s position that they deeply respect their user’s privacy.
